Hello lovely beings
Even though I'm doing no animal products, mother and I decided we could have meat days [not cheat days, no making it negative! lol] and still go back to doing no meats. I decided to do a meat day so that my partner and I could try out The Original Hot Chicken that opened up close to him ✨.
It's actually located where the old Captain's Boil used to be, so the inside was super familiar for us. "Pickle-brined, southern-style, cornflake-rolled, nashville-hot, DAMN-GOOD chicken," is how the people at OG Hot Chicken describe their dishes....and they ain't lying!
To have a menu with not a shiz-ton of options, all of the options available still sounded tasty. My partner picked the Chicken Sando with Korean BBQ spice level, while I went for the Chicken and Waffles with their HOT spice level. We also got a fried twinkie since I've never tried one before.
The rolling of the cornflakes adds a very satisfying level of crunch to both meals. The flavor in their Korean BBQ concoction for the chicken sando is absolutely delicious! I think it would even taste good alongside the waffles lol! As for my hot tenders + waffle combo, too tasty. The little bottle of syrup wasn't enough for me, as I like syrup in every waffle nook lol. Other than that, [can't say it enough] the flavors were quite tasty.
As for dessert, the fried twinkie. I'm honestly not a fan of a regular twinkie, let alone a fried one, but my partner's excitement to see it on the menu led me to use my vocal cords to say, "we should order one." I still am not a fan of the cream filling, but the cake part with the crunch was tasty enough to hide my inner disgust 😂!
If you've made it through the whole post, I'm sure you already know I'm going to recommend you giving it a try with all my boasting about the yummy flavors. In the event that you take me on my recommendation, here's some helpful info when planning your visit ✨
✨ Thank you for reading ✨
